1. What Income is Taxable and Non-Taxable?

Taxable Income includes but is not limited to earned income such as Wages and Salaries, Lottery and Gambling Income, Rental Income, Net Profits/Income of businesses, corporations, partnerships, trusts and estates, and other income.

Non-Taxable Income includes but is not limited to Active Duty Military wages, Social Security Benefits, Workers Compensation, Alimony, and State Unemployment Compensation.

2. How does my business apply for a withholding account number?

To receive a withholding account number from the City you need to submit a Business Questionnaire

3. What is the annual interest rate?

Per Am.Sub. HB 5 passed on December 19, 2014 by the Ohio General Assembly, and in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section 718, we will be publishing our Interest Rates here. Interest Rates for 2016 and forward are based on the Federal Short Term Rate published in July, rounded to the nearest whole number plus 5%. 

Interest Rate for 2023 is 7% (0.58% per month)

Interest Rate for 2022 is 5% (0.41% per month)

Interest Rate for 2021 is 5% (0.41% per month)

Interest Rate for 2020 is 7% (0.58% per month)

Interest Rate for 2019 is 7% (0.58% per month)

Interest Rate for 2018 is 6% (0.50% per month) 

Interest Rate for 2017 is 6% (0.50% per month) 

Interest Rate for 2016 is 5% (0.42% per month)

Interest rate for tax years 2015 and prior is 1.5% per month.

4. Am I required to file a tax form?

All residents of the City over the age of 18 are required to file an annual city tax return even if the appropriate city taxes have been withheld. All persons or businesses who engage in any form of activity or provide goods or services within the City are required to file an annual City income tax return.

5. Where can I get forms and instructions?

Copies of the City income tax form are available on this website or can be picked up at the Englewood Government Center at 333 West National Road or by calling the Tax Department at 937-836-5106, option 4.

6. When and where do I file my tax form?

The City Income Tax Form must be filed by April 15th following the year end.

The City tax department is located at 333 W National Rd, Englewood, OH 45322.

7. When are estimated tax payments due?

If City tax due for the year is estimated to be greater than $200 or City taxes of at least 1.75% are not being withheld, estimated tax payments (declaration payments) need to be made. Taxes must be filed by April 15th; however, they must be PAID by January 15th following the year end. If not, a penalty at the rate of 15% could apply. You can receive assistance from the tax department for the calculation of estimated tax payments via email (tax@englewood.oh.us), phone (937-836-5106 option 4) or in person at the income tax counter. Quarterly estimated tax payments are due: April 15th June 15th September 15th January 15th Payments can be made to the City via our online payment system, mail or in person at City office at 333 W National Road, Englewood, OH 45322.

8. Does the City of Englewood offer payment plans for taxes due?

Yes.
We offer payment plans to accounts that are in compliance with the city tax department.
The payment plans are for no longer than 6 months in duration with a minimum payment of $25 per month and carry an interest rate of 6% annually.
All payments for the plans need to be made using an automatic draft from your bank account and are due on the 25th of each month.

9. What is Englewood's income tax rate?

The current City of Englewood income tax rate is 1.75%. The original ordinance was enacted in October 1970 by Ordinance No. 674 with subsequent modifications thereafter.

10. What if I am a minor child?

The personal earnings of all persons under age 16 are exempt from taxation. Persons under 18 are not required to file a City income tax unless the appropriate City income tax has not been deducted.
