City Council has approved amendments to the Solicitors, Canvassers, Peddlers and Vendors Ordinance including the creation of a "Do Not Solicit" List much like the State and Federal governments' "Do Not Call" lists.
Solicitor's Permit Guidelines
Under the Ordinance, any solicitor, canvasser, peddler or vendor intending to make face-to-face contact at a resident's home must register and obtain a Solicitor's Permit.
Once a permit is approved, the soliciting agency will be given a copy of the "Do Not Solicit" List and must not attempt to make contact at any listed residence.
Vendors and solicitors who are only distributing information but are not attempting to make face-to-face contact do not have to apply for a vendor's license, or comply with the "Do Not Solicit" List.
